Markdowns on regular strength balms!

I’ve decided to no longer order the little metal tins I use for regular strength balm since I really like the look & size of the white 2oz pots I have started using for my extra strength. So bye bye little tins, hello doubling the size of regular strength!

The metal tins sometimes stick and I’ve had the feedback that they are hard to use for people with chronic hand problems. I’ve also had troubles finding a replacement 1oz white pot so this means both regular & extra strength will be the same size because I’m done hunting. I’ve got more important things to work on! ?

Regular strength balms get a makeover! They will now be shipped in 2oz size instead of 1oz with 420mg THC instead of 210mg. Your new balm goes from roughly 4 months worth to a 6-8 month supply depending on how much you’re using it. Regular price will be $35.

If you like bargains, then check out the 1oz balms and see if your favorite scent is left!

My remaining 1oz regular strength tins are available for the discounted price of $20 in the 1oz balm section. Scents and stock are limited and if you’re lucky, you can nab the last Earl Grey.

Extra Strength balms are remaining awesome and at their very affordable price (from what I’ve seen online) – no price, packaging or sizing changes planned.

Get your feet summer ready!

Are your feet sandal ready?

Summertime always is terrible for your feet. Some of us hide the fact we don’t tend to our toes on the regular by wearing sneakers that make your feet smell but the rest of us embrace the sandals! In order to do that, your feet must be looking their finest so prepare for some cannabis infused tips to get your feet looking and feeling great!

If your feet are looking extra dry, you might want to exfoliate with a Cannabis Sugar Scrub to reveal a the baby soft skin waiting to meet the sun! The cannabis with soothe your tired achy feet while the sugar gently scrubs the dirt and dead skin to make your feet look fresh and clean!

If your feet are exceptionally bad, I suggest a soak with some of our bath salts followed by the cannabis scrub. You could even scrub while soaking as the sugar will dissolve in the water so won’t leave grit in the tub.

If you’ve got badly cracked heels, I recommend to follow it up with some Pain Relief Balm. The balm has some really good moisturizing ingredients and the cannabis soothes and hydrates your skin. I’ve been hearing from customers that it works great for replenishing the lost moisture that can cause dry cracked heels, plus the cannabis helps restore the damaged skin.

You can even use cannabis soaps for regular washings to help maintain those tender toes. If you like to shower at night, then the soap might also wash away some minor aches and pains from the day as it’s very soothing. From soaps to soaks to balms to scrubs, we’ve got everything you need to make your feet happy…. except for maybe some sensible shoes. You’re on your own there! ?

Strain Review: Black Gas (flawless)

A quick google search tells me that Black Gas Flawless is an indica strain one whiff of it fresh from the grinder tells me I’m going to enjoy my bedtime session! Everything I read said this strain should smell gassy but I mostly smell blackberry. I could be crazy, or this could be misidentified but I don’t care, it smelled delicious and I’m definitely looking forward to smoking it. I was starting to get a migraine before I started my first session with this strain, and I certainly did not have a migraine when I finished! However about an hour after smoking is when I noticed my migraine was gone and shortly after, I did that thing where you think too much about your symptom and it all comes back. I do find my anxiety can be triggered with indicas especially heavy ones so this is just one I have to be careful with. Black Gas Flawless is a heavy hitter so I turned to it again after a few nights with a lighter strain. This strain gave me a great body high and the couch lock I look for at the end of the night. So definitely the current favorite for bedtime. I was chatty and giggly which is always fun so I’d recommend this strain for indica loving hang sessions or depression symptoms for those who can’t use sativas.

Lemon Cake strain review

Lemon Cake has been my savior lately. I’ve been dealing with tremors, nausea, anxiety, dizziness and exhaustion due to a change in my meds. I’ve discovered Indicas make my anxiety worse, even some hybrids do it to me as well and I found this sativa is strong enough to blast through all those symptoms and make me feel like a human being for a few hours at least. It’s a tasty strain and you can definitely smell the lemon parentage.

I’ve was told it was a cross with Lemon Haze and Cheese Cake. I’m not sure if I’ve had Cheese Cake before but I’ve had a few lemon strains in the past and always enjoyed them. Lemon Cake hits me like a true sativa. It’s giving me the energy to be on my feet while boosting my creativity. It’s definitely a strain I wish I had a lot more of but sadly my sample was only a few grams. I’m finding it helpful with my tremors & nausea and I’m just smoking enough to get on with my day, not enough to really make me high.

Lemon Cake is my favorite out of this bunch so if you like the energy of a sativa with the creativity boost to keep you rolling then keep your eyes open for this strain. You won’t be disappointed.

BC CBD, a CBD strain review

This is the first time I’ve tried a CBD strain. I’ve been experiencing a lot of anxiety symptoms lately and I’ve been managing them by smoking sativas during the day. They tend to be lower in THC and with marginally higher CBD levels. I’ve heard lots of people say CBD is good for anxiety so I thought I’d give it a shot. When I started breaking the bud apart, I noticed the smell reminded me of peanut butter so this might be a treat! I’m sure it’s supposed to be diesel and orange or something but I smelled peanut butter and it wasn’t from something I ate. ??‍♀️ The buds are very pretty with green buds and orange hairs As I pretended to know what the lab results meant, I was able to deduct that this strain is 8-10% CBD and around 6% THC so I decided to go for broke and see what happens if I smoke the whole thing. It’s not like I’ll get very high since CBD counteracts the negative effects of THC. I found that I didn’t feel baked. My head felt clear and I felt very relaxed. I could easily go for a nap, so I could see it being useful medicinally for sleep & pain. My body actually feels similar to when I use one of my cannabis bath bombs or the body wash I’ve been developing but in a lesser degree. I didn’t really have any aches & pains to give you results for pain management as I had soaked in a cannabis bath the night before. My mild feels calm and serene. The rage is gone, the inner critic seems to be napping and my anxiety seemed to be settled and there is a mild buzz. I’m currently using cannabis to keep symptoms from my new meds under control. So far sativas are doing the best for me during the day but I’m finding this CBD strain useful in giving me a burst of clarity and sometimes energy to counter the effects of a couple of hybrids I’ve been trying. It allows my head to be clearer while still getting the relief of the body high & nausea relief. A few puffs of B.C. CBD after smoking a hybrid and I’m back in action.

Strawberry Banana, a strain Review

Strawberry Banana is a fairly balanced hybrid that’s absolutely as tasty as it sounds and I will be sad when I run out!

I eagerly await this strain’s return to my life ?

There’s mixed information on this strain. After a quick google search, I discover the first 2 sites say indica dominant, and the other 2 say sativa dominant. I find this strain stops the nausea, tremors, and the headaches I’ve been dealing with lately so I don’t really care.

It allows me to be focused and able to tackle projects. I’m able to stay on task and not be distracted by every whim. I don’t find it helps with depression and anxiety aside from calming you down if you were having an episode. I was still ruminating but it was manageable.

I didn’t find it helpful for sleep so I mostly smoked it during the day. I didn’t find it made me sleepy even though it’s 70% indica but I did feel kinda lazy. I managed to find all sorts of work to do from the couch so it wasn’t an issue for me. I was missing the get up and go true Sativas deliver but out of the options I had, this strain was the most helpful.

I am now out of Strawberry Banana and I do indeed miss it. It’s a flavorful delight that stopped my major symptoms and gave me focus. I’d recommend this strain for anyone who loves a sweet flavorful smoke, with a moderate high.

Pink Kush, a strain review

I had to search all my notes, drafts and published posts to discover I haven’t written about Pink Kush yet! This is a classic bedtime treat for me. I loved the taste and smell of this strain but it’s not always strong enough to counteract my occasional insomnia.

This strain tastes exactly what I imagine the color pink to taste like! A little floral, a little sweet, with just a little bit of berry is exactly what the color pink should taste like, don’t you agree?

A lot of websites say this strain is a heavy hitter but I’ve always found it on the lower side of indicas. Personally I’ve considered it to be mid range for strength. It’s not as strong as my favorites that knock me out but it’s not as weak as the indicas that I consider “just a tasty treat”. This strain for me is mid range even though it boasts an average 22% THC.

I didn’t feel overly high or have any negative effects. It did give me the munchies and unfortunately we are all out of cookies so I can’t say how bad the munchies are. For sleep, I’d say it made my eyes a little heavy but not “I’m going to pass out” heavy. I really like the indicas where I have a hard time keeping my eyes open. I did however sleep really well. In fact I stayed asleep and woke up refreshed with no disturbances in the night. So the perfect sleep balance and definitely a favorite these days.

Just for the heck of it, I smoked almost an entire king size to myself to see what the fuss is. I keep forgetting I have legs. That’s how strong the body high is. My tolerance is really high but I can now see how this strain might hit others quite hard. Pink is always a favorite of mine, it’s just not always strong enough. This time around it was top quality and did exactly what I needed it to. I’d recommend Pink Kush if you find the heavy hitters too strong or if you just love the taste. Like me. ?

Topical Oil Beauty Hacks

Generally I use the Pain Relief Oil on my legs for the aches and pains that come from standing all day or from the aches I get from wearing any shoe with a higher heel than my sneakers. To be honest I wear slippers most of the time like I’m your 90 year old grandma but of course I make it look cool. ?

I have friends that use it on their sore aching knees since it’s easier to apply on larger body parts than the balm. The liquid application makes it easier to apply on larger surface areas such as hips and of course it’s great for a full back massage! I’ve recently decided to start experimenting with the oil to see if I could find any other uses besides massage and these are the beauty hacks I’ve discovered!

Inner Thigh Chafing

I don’t know about you but I certainly don’t have a thigh gap to prevent my luscious lady thighs from rubbing together and causing uncomfortable friction when I wear dresses & skirts without hosiery or shorts underneath. This becomes painful in a very short amount of time depending on the weather and activity level.

One day I decided to wear a skirt to run to the store even though my all my bike shorts were dirty. I figured I’d try the oil on my thighs to see if that would make my quick trip to the store less painful than the last time I went out without an added layer of protection. I am happy to say it worked!

Total summertime game changer! Yesterday my friend Lizzie tried it at work and thanked me profusely for my suggestion. I’m thrilled my friend made it through the day without the burning rubbing feeling you get from too much inner thigh friction for eight hours.

So just rub the oil on the insides of your thighs before heading out for the day. The oil will keep your skin from getting dry so there will be less friction and of course the cannabis will help calm any pain that occurs.

After Shave For Ladies

Have you ever forgotten to shave your legs during your shower/bath and chose to just do a quick dry shave so you could still wear those shorts or skirt you picked out for the day?

Then you know just how raw and uncomfortable your legs will be feeling for hours afterwards. I’ve discovered that our Pain Relief Oil not only calms that right down but it also moisturizes your poor skin so you can go back to just worrying about whether or not your skirt is too short for your activity level. Just apply the oil after your quick dry shave to soothe your skin and reduce the irritation.

Sunburn Relief

This one might not be strictly a beauty hack but I feel like the redness and peeling you get from sunburns definitely affects your self confidence so close enough. ??‍♀️

Over the summer I tried applying the peppermint scented Pain Relief Oil on my sunburn thinking the cooling sensation of the peppermint would help ease my pain & discomfort. I didn’t experience any cooling sensation on my burn but it did end up calming the pain. I had to use a lot to calm the pain at first and I did notice my skin never got that tight over cooked feeling I generally associate with bad sunburns so that was pretty great.

The biggest thing I’ve noticed (along with a few friends who tried based on my recommendation) was that the burn healed faster than expected and my skin never went into the peeling phase.

I found this more effective than some of the cooling aloe gels I’ve tried in the past where I’d be reapplying more than recommended for relief only to still end up peeling and gross. I do think I should eventually develop a cooling formula for sunburns but the regular stuff works in a pinch. ??

Have you discovered any other beauty hacks with our Pain Relief Oil? Please share them on our social media or in the comments below! We’d love to hear your secrets! ??

Bruce Banner, a strain review

This Sativa dominant strain is often reviewed as a heavy hitter but it’s still described as a clear high. I’m excited to see how it tackles my symptoms of nausea, tremors & fatigue.

I feel like I can finally concentrate after smoking half a joint. Calmed my tremors and provided tolerable nausea relief. I really like how clearheaded I feel, I feel almost focused and that creative and problem solving endeavors are the ideal activities after this session.

I’m finding it’s not a big motivator when dealing with low energy as it doesn’t seem to be as energizing as I would like it to be immediately after smoking. It’s more like it energizes your mind than your body.

However it once you get up, you’re ready for action. Be careful where you go after your session as you might end up starting a bigger project than you can accomplish!

Leafly says it’s lower on the energizing scale but another site says high so I guess it definitely depends on the severity of symptoms and whether you get up. If you need help walking to the store, working out or to run errands (I don’t recommend driving after smoking) then this strain can help you do just that!

As for the heavy hitting capabilities of this strain, I can’t comment. I didn’t feel heavy effects so I’m guessing my tolerance is super high or the other reviewers were only reviewing for recreational purposes. Either way I enjoyed my experience and felt pretty good using this strain.

Corona virus and cannabis topicals?

Sorry, cannabis is not going to cure you or prevent you from getting the Corona-19 virus but they can make you feel a bit better if you get hit.

The BC Center for disease control states “The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses, including the flu and common cold. They include cough, sneezing, fever, sore throat and difficulty breathing.” However a local medical professional has given me a bit more details than that. Sore throat and a dry cough are the signs that the hospitals were told to look out for in cases of suspected Covid-19.

Definitely not me. There is no Covid-19 exposure at The Rad Scientist Topicals as of today! ??

Topicals can’t help with coughing, sneezing, fever and difficulty breathing but a cannabis balm with eucalyptus rubbed on your sore throat can help ease your discomfort. All of our extra strength balms contain eucalyptus so you can get some of the benefits even if you hate the smell of plain eucalyptus.

Our cannabis balm could help any chapped skin from excessive nose blowing or wiping. It can also provide localized pain relief for sore achy muscles.

If you find you’re getting headaches and sinus pain, then reach for one of our headache rollers! Eucalyptus is extra beneficial as it can help clear airways but any of our scents can help with headaches.

If baths are more your thing, our Euphoric Bath Collection has some great treats for those tired aching muscles. It’s a total game changer if you’ve been coughing so hard your back and/or abs hurt since you can treat the pain while relaxing in the tub before bed. You get the pain relief plus the added benefit of super soft skin and I don’t know about you but I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love soft skin!

Don’t forget: nothing can replace acetaminophen to stop a fever. I’ve been told ibuprofen & other nsaids make the symptoms worse but acetaminophen works best for fevers so why take the chance? It sounds like it’s similar to the flu and it’s mainly the elderly at risk so keep your kids away from grandma as she would be higher risk for pneumonia can follow.

Remember to wash your hands and try not to touch your face while in public. Stay healthy, stay safe friends and of course share your favorite topical tips in the comments! We’d love to hear them!
